Space Mountain Next Up To Get A Major Overhaul?

Okay so this rumor has been floating around for a while now, but it feels like things are really starting to heat up around Space Mountain at Walt Disney World. We're talking about the possibility of a major rebuild, and honestly? The more you look at it, the more it starts to make a lot of sense. We first started hinting at something going on with Tomorrowland over a month ago, and now more people are starting to connect the same dots we were connecting. Disney has been on a serious tear lately when it comes to reinvesting in their classic attractions. Carousel of Progress just got some love, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had a full retrack that turned out beautifully, and Space Mountain... well, it could use some work. Here's where it gets really fun though. This isn't just a simple retrack conversation. There's a real question on the table about whether Disney goes all-in and gives Space Mountain a full reimagining. We're talking new track layout, new ride vehicles, maybe even side-by-side seating like they have over at Disneyland, and some genuinely immersive new effects. The exterior facade would almost certainly stay the same, and the PeopleMover would need to stay in place, but beyond that? Imagineers would basically have a blank canvas. We also break down what closure timing might look like if this moves forward. Using Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as the model, we think Space Mountain probably stays open through the end of 2026, with a potential closure coming in early 2027.
