Empowering Women Through Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR)

In many rural communities, women bear the brunt of climate change. As natural resources become scarce, they are forced to walk longer distances and spend countless hours searching for water and firewood to sustain their households-time that could otherwise be invested in income-generating activities, education or rest. Through the Central Rift Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration Scale-Up Project (CRIFSUP), supported by the Australian Government, World Vision is helping to change this reality. By promoting Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) alongside other sustainable land restoration practices, the project is restoring degraded landscapes while strengthening community resilience. As a result, women are becoming more economically empowered and better equipped to withstand the impacts of climate change. With improved access to natural resources and new livelihood opportunities, they can provide more stable, secure futures for their families, enabling their children to grow up healthier, happier and with greater hope for the future.
