According to childhood friend Andros Georgiou, George Michael never recovered from the 1993 death of first love Anselmo Feleppa. Anselmo passed away from AIDS only a year into his and George’s relationship, leaving the pop singer incredibly devastated by the loss. Thankfully, George knew that Anselmo would pass away, as Anselmo was aware of his AIDS diagnosis. Though this allowed the two to make the most of their time together, it didn't make the loss any easier for George to bear. George was publicly moved by the death of Anselmo, even dedicating the song “Jesus to a Child” to him. However, it appeared publicly that George was able to move on from the loss and find various new loves over the course of his remaining decades before his 2016 death. According to childhood friend Andros, this was all a façade, as George never truly moved on from first love Anselmo. Andros alleges that all of George’s relationships after Anselmo’s death were simply futile attempts to fill the void that his first love’s passing had left, and this eventually killed him.
