XCOM, an internationally assembled military unit, confronted the invaders. Unfortunately, in vain. The aliens, led by the so-called Ancients, conquered Earth. Many people died, but this seems almost forgotten, because thanks to gene clinics and other alien technologies, diseases are a thing of the past. The peacekeepers of Advent maintain order and security. Everything is fine...at least if you don't look too closely...
