How Actors Transform Into 95-Year-Olds For Movies And TV | Movies Insider

Sometimes performers need to be aged up for a role. For occasions like this, special makeup effects artist Kevin Yagher will create prosthetic pieces and makeup. For "Bill & Ted Face the Music," Yagher made Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter look like they were 95 years old. To do this, he first took lifecasts of the actors to see where wrinkles and droopage were beginning so he could then accentuate them. He then sculpted deep wrinkles while making sure parts of their bone structure were visible. Then he airbrushed tiny pores onto the skin and meticulously painted on broken capillaries and liver spots. He also realized he could make the two actors look older by giving Winter a pair of contact lenses that give off the appearance of cataracts while adding fake eyebags to Reeves.
