​Bicycle Touring Zambia🇿🇲: First Impressions of the 20th Country || S3 Episode 103

I woke up early in Chipata, had a simple breakfast of bread and jam, and started my first full day of riding in Zambia—my 20th country! Before hitting the road, let me share a little about this country. Zambia is a landlocked nation in southern Africa, sharing borders with 8 countries: Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The capital is Lusaka, and the currency is the Zambian Kwacha. Zambia gained independence from British colonial rule in 1964, and since then, it has been a peaceful, stable democracy. The country is on Central Africa Time (CAT), which is 2 hours ahead of UTC. Now, back to the ride! The people here are incredibly friendly. Everywhere I went, locals greeted me with a warm "hi" and big smiles. For lunch, I had sima (ugali) and chicken, paying 40 Kwacha. But not everything was smooth. The Airtel internet was terrible, so I decided to switch to MTN for better service. Along the way, I met some amazing people, including two young schoolgirls who asked me for food. I shared some bread with them. I reached Katete by nightfall and found a hotel for 150 Kwacha. I also finally got my MTN SIM card, hoping for better connectivity tomorrow.
