Rediscovering the Forgotten Work of John Singer Sargent's Sister

We spoke to Richard Ormond, cousin of Jemima Pitman and a descendant of Singer Sargent, about the artist's enduring legacy and the rediscovery of his sister's work. Emily Sargent, whose work was long overshadowed by that of her famous brother, is now receiving renewed academic and institutional attention. This sale features 19 works on paper by Emily and six by her brother. When asked whether his cousin would be happy to see the collection going on display, Ormond replied: "Yes, she was very generous-minded."
