Can all of this really be one country? Before this trip, I knew almost nothing about Slovenia. I had only driven through it on my way to Croatia or Italy. Everyone says it’s one of the most underrated countries in Europe, so I decided to find out if it’s really as incredible as people claim. But this time, my journey would be very different… No hotels, no restaurants, and as little money spent as possible. My bedroom became my car. My kitchen was Lidl and an electric grill. Every morning I woke up somewhere new, with no idea where the day would end. Ahead of me were turquoise lakes, alpine valleys, waterfalls, some of Europe’s largest caves, medieval towns with narrow streets, and even a stretch of coastline that many people don’t even know Slovenia has. But what impressed me the most wasn’t any single location—it was just how incredibly diverse such a small country could be. At first, I thought Slovenia would be just another stop on my long European road trip. But by the end of the very first day, it became obvious… I had seriously underestimated it.
