Nóirin Ní Riain: Vocal Journeys Artist Interview Series Where Voicing Yourself Ignites Passion for our Planet Today I feature Noirin Ni Riain, theologian, musicologist, author, and recording artist. Born and raised on the west coast of Ireland, Noirin holds the depth and knowledge of all things Celtic, spiritual, and sacred of the land and traditions of her people, her customs, and song. Listen in as Noirin and I discuss the return to some traditions of the land, the pagan and Christian saint Brigid and Imbolc, and her passion for our human connectedness in this new time. Noirin Ni Riain - Born on the west coast of Ireland, Noirin began singing lessons at the tender age of seven. Specializing in religious music, she studied at the University College Cork. Spiritual songs have always been her inspiration, and she is known for traditional sean-nos singing as well as being one of the only women invited to sing Gregorian Chant with the Benedictine monks of Glenstal Abbey. In 1989 she introduced His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama at the International Peace Gathering in Costa Rica.
