Claude Monets Garten in Giverny: Ein lebendiges Gemälde voller Inspiration │Querbeet
Immerse yourself in Claude Monet's dreamy garden in Giverny, France. Discover the white water lily, Monet's favorite plant, and learn how his love of flowers influenced his art. The water garden and the Clos Normand offer inspiration and are now a living painting for visitors. A Living Painting Monet and flowers simply belong together. Floral motifs can be found in almost every work by the artist, but he usually painted entire garden landscapes. And this isn't just because they are easily depicted in an Impressionist style. Rather, it was Monet's love for flowers that gave them a place in his paintings. This love was so great that he created his own living works of art. One of these is his garden in Giverny. It was a source of his inspiration, and even today, when you spend time in this garden, you feel as if you are walking through his paintings. In the Beginning There Was the Apple – Clos Normand Monet arrived in Giverny in 1883. At that time, the house was surrounded by an apple orchard and a vegetable garden. An avenue of cypresses and spruces led to the house. Colorful summer flowers grew in the garden, framed by boxwood. Not a bad thing in itself, but capable of expansion, Monet probably thought. Thus, the artist began to create the garden kingdom of his dreams. He relentlessly perfected the Clos Normand, the ornamental garden of his house in Giverny. Boxwood and spruce trees gave way to metal arches, which still stand in the garden today; alongside them, climbing and bedding roses, and a colorful mix of summer flowers. Apple trees were replaced by cherries and apricots from Japan. The remaining area was covered with colorful flowers, ranging from spring bloomers like tulips, daffodils, and the like, to Turkish poppies, peonies, erysimum, and irises, in colorful borders or in demarcated rectangles. An Artist's Preference – Water Garden Monet was particularly fond of water lilies. They are the subject of many of his works. To depict them as we know him, he sent gardeners to the water lily ponds before his forays. They were to clean the water lilies, removing any dirt so they could unfold their full beauty. But Monet had other preferences as well. He disliked dark colors; the entire garden is painted in light tones. The Garden Today The house and garden have been open to visitors since 1980. The Claude Monet Foundation had the house lovingly and meticulously restored. The garden, too, shines today once again in the splendor Monet bestowed upon it. The former studio is now an exhibition space, displaying his most famous works, such as "Le Déjeuner, The Luncheon." Painters from all over the world are particularly drawn to Giverny. The water garden, in particular, is a source of inspiration for them, just as it was for Monet. Or as Monet himself said of himself: "Apart from painting and gardening, I am good for nothing." But that doesn't matter, because, as you can see from this garden, these are two talents that complement each other almost perfectly. Giverny is a very special garden, very playful and full of surprises.
