I did the entire trek without using an oxygen bottle, relying purely on determination, faith, and the divine energy of Mount Kailash. This journey is not just a trek; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual experience that tests your body, mind, and soul. Our yatra began from Nepalgunj, from where we took a chartered flight to Simikot, then a thrilling helicopter ride to Hilsa. After landing, we crossed the Tibet border and continued our journey in a Volvo bus to Purang, where we stayed overnight to rest and prepare for the big days ahead. The next morning, we drove to Dharchen to acclimatise, which is absolutely crucial at such high altitudes. Then came the moment I was waiting for — reaching Yam Dwar, the sacred gateway where the 54 km Kailash Parikrama officially begins. From Yam Dwar, we trekked 11 km to Dira Puk, where you get the most breathtaking view of the North Face of Mount Kailash. Many yatris (pilgrims) end their journey here due to the difficulty ahead. But for those ready to push their limits, the real challenge begins — the toughest and most demanding stretch of the entire Yatra. The second day of Parikrama is a brutal 22 km trek, crossing steep ascents, freezing winds, and thin air at extreme altitudes. But the reward? A spiritual high and surreal views that words can’t describe. After an exhausting day, we reached Zuthulpuk, and the next morning, we continued the final stretch to Zongdu, completing the divine circle around Kailash.
