Petrogas E&P Netherlands Helm Platform
This is a video showing the construction and installation of the Helm platform and pipeline. The Helm field was discovered in February 1979, when the successful exploratory well number Q/1-3 was drilled and tested. Helm represented the first oil production from the Dutch sector of the North Sea when it came on stream in 1982 with Union Oil. 37 years later, Petrogas E&P Netherlands now owns and manages these assets, and we are still producing oil safely. However, the time for these platforms to produce oil is coming to an end, and Decommissioning activities have started. These images are helping the team as it is planned to remove the platform in the reverse way it was installed. Many thanks to Ton van Leeuwen for helping us track down these images.
