Do que é feito um bom romance?

Do you know the opening of Tolstoy's novel, Anna Karenina? It's a classic: "All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." I think with novels it's the opposite: bad novels are alike. Every good novel is good in its own way. However, there are four attributes that I've identified over more than fifteen years of reading manuscripts, and which are present in almost all good books. They are: 1. Surprise 2. Beauty 3. Lack/Hunger 4. Uniqueness If you want to know what they consist of, and how to apply them to your work, you can't miss this video I recorded.
