Why Your Roblox Stylized Sword Still Looks Like Plastic (And How to Fix It!!)

I do not remember sounding so nasally. Anyways, if your stylized textures keep coming out flat and plastic-like, it's usually the fault of a couple of VERY fixable habits. In this video I break down a full sword texture from start to finish, and briefly touch on some important stylized 3D modeling concepts. I'll be following a World of Warcraft-style reference for this but the principles I go over apply to any handpainted stylized prop for the most part. 0:00 - Intro 0:17 - VERY briefly going over shape language 0:58 - Going from 2D to 3D 1:33 - UV unwrapping for hand-painted textures 2:23 - Brush setup (falloff, pen pressure, occlusion/backface culling) 2:48 - Blocking out light and shadow and a quick detail pass 3:49 - Painting gold 5:52 - Painting wood 6:51 - Finishing touches on the blade 7:36 - Wrap up If you want the full process video and project files for free, both are in my Discord.
