Choosing Between Abiraterone and Novel ARPIs: Practical Insights

A regional roundtable discussion, moderated by Richard Zhang, MD, Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology, examined evolving treatment strategies across the prostate cancer continuum, including the use of triplet therapy in castration-sensitive disease, sequencing options in castration-resistant disease, and emerging modalities such as radiopharmaceuticals, PARP inhibitors, bispecifics, and novel radioisotopes. Dr. Zhang was joined by other practitioners at Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology, including Michael Epstein, MD; Ahad Sadiq, MD; Sunil Babu, MD; Ryan Gonzales, MD; and David Zimmerman, MD. In the second segment, they discussed nuances in PSMA PET imaging, including the differences between gallium-68 and F-18 tracers, and shared how they assess disease risk using PSA, metastasis location, Gleason score, and genetic testing. They also explored management strategies for oligometastatic prostate cancer, including the role of radiation, systemic therapy, intermittent treatment, and sequencing of androgen receptor pathway inhibitors.
