Proof of Intercession from the Holy Qur'an - Hazrat Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani Hazrat Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani discusses Verse 186 from Surah al-Baqara (2:186), "When My servants ask you concerning Me, then I am indeed near. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he calls upon Me; then they should obey My Commands and believe in Me, so that they may walk in the right way." The Verse is sometimes cited by certain sects who state that it is not permissible to seek intercession through the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) because the Verse talks about the believer asking help from Almighty Allah. Hazrat Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani states this Verse cannot be taken in isolation and studying the subsequent Verse and other Verses of the Holy Qur'an clarifies that one can take matters to the Holy Court of the Beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Hazrat Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani also quotes classical Tafsirs and shows how the background to the Verses prove Sunni aqeeda.
