Hi everyone. Jesse here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'll show you how to install, the Curt Custom Fit Trailer Wiring on our 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander. And trailer wiring is just one of those things that's absolutely essential if you plan on doing any towing with your vehicle. It's gonna keep you safe and legal out there on the road by sending a signal from the vehicle to the lights on your trailer to get those to function properly. So that means turn signals, tail lights, and brake lights. Here's what it looks like installed on our neighbor's vehicle. It's just your standard four-pole plug that will plug into your trailer's wiring. It does come with the dust cap included, which is really nice because if you didn't want to get a couple brackets to get it permanently mounted onto your bumper, you can simply loop it around your safety cable loop and tie it up like that. And that's gonna be perfectly fine. All in all, like I said, trailer wiring's just one of those things that you're gonna need if you plan on doing any towing. If you have any questions or concerns about this product or anything else we offer here at etrailer, feel free to reach out to us. We'd be happy to get you pointed in the right direction. But as for the installation with this kit, it is a little bit easier than some of those universal kits because you don't have to splice into the factory wiring. However, you do have to run a power wire all the way to the front of the vehicle to where your battery is. So if it's not something that you're looking to do yourself, maybe you don't have the time, the space, or the tools to get it done, check out our dealer locator. You can find someone local too. They would be happy to help you get this installed. If you are looking to see how this gets installed, then follow along and I'll walk you through the process. We'll begin our installation by removing our driver's side taillight here. So the plastic panel covering up two screws. Just need to kind of work your fingers under that and start popping it out. And then pull it straight back. So we have two Phillips screws to remove. (drill whirring) Get those taken out all the way. And then from there, it's just held in by a pin here and a tab back here, you wanna be pretty careful because this forward piece here is pretty thin plastic, but just work it outta place. And then for our wiring, there's a grommet here. If you just pull on that, it'll pop out and expose our plug. Push in on this tab and separate the two plugs and set your taillight aside. Now what I've done is I took our brown, yellow, and red wiring harness in our kit and I fished it up through our bumper pocket here. I just used a piece of air line tubing. You could also use a metal clothes hanger, just whatever you have that you can pull it up through. And then we'll take the female end of our new harness, plug it into our factory wiring here, and then the other end can plug into our taillight plug right here. We'll get that plugged in then we can tuck our wires back as much as we can so we can reinstall our taillight. Now underneath our vehicle, our black converter box is tucked up there pretty high, but it's pretty easy to just grab the wires that we need to work with. So our four-pole, the green wire, and then our black wire. So with the black wire, we need to extend this out to go to the front of the vehicle for our battery. So I use the heat shrink plug connector just to make a nice watertight seal. The kit doesn't come with these, you would have to purchase that separately. And then our ground wire here, I'm actually gonna self-tap right up here to the frame. And once I have that self-tapped, I'm just gonna zip tie our converter box up to make it nice and secure up there and make sure it's not banging around at all. (drill whirring) So with our green wire, we just routed it roughly for now because we're gonna fish wire it up into our passenger side taillight, just the same way we did the driver's side. So once I have all the slack taken out, I can clean it up. Our four-pole wiring, they gave us quite a bit of wiring, so I bundled it up and zip tied it up high and tight, so it's out of the way there. And then for our black wire, the routing I took is up above t
