My Solo Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025 | Mt. Kailash Parikrama Experience | Hara Hara Mahadev

I undertook this sacred journey solo, joining a group of 41 pilgrims organized by Kailas Journey tour agents. We began our spiritual expedition from Kathmandu, Nepal on August 4th, embarking on a 13-day pilgrimage that included the divine Parikrama of Holy Mount Kailash completed over 3 days. Our group travelled together with 12 dedicated members from the organizing team — guides, cooks, and support staff — moving in 2 buses and 1 car across the breathtaking yet challenging terrains of Tibet. The entire experience was spiritually uplifting, physically demanding, and deeply transformative. At 56 years of age, I witnessed many inspiring fellow yatris over 60 years old — some even 66 and 69 years young (including one post-surgery) — completing the journey in remarkable physical condition. Their determination and devotion were truly motivating. I had begun preparing with regular exercise 6 months prior to the yatra, which helped significantly. However, like many of us living a sedentary routine life, I realized how much more preparation is truly needed for high-altitude pilgrimages. Fifteen years ago, during my visit to Gurudongmar Lake in Sikkim, I experienced Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) — dizziness, lightheadedness, and complete inability to walk, forcing me to descend immediately. Because of that past experience, I was quite skeptical about attempting Kailash this time. Thankfully, proper preparation, medication like Diamox, and mental readiness helped me manage much better. Although I could not complete Day 2 of the Parikrama due to altitude challenges, I still feel deeply blessed for the experiences I was granted. Every step taken, every breath at high altitude, every chant of “Hara Hara Mahadev” felt like divine grace.
