My 81 Year Old Mom-In-Law Makes Peanut Butter Bars

I'm joined in my kitchen by Barbara Manson, my 81-year-old mother-in-law, who bakes an all-time favorite dessert called peanut butter bars. Recipe: Combine: 1 cup of peanut butter 2/3 cup of softened butter 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups brown sugar Mix until creamy Add: 1 cup of flour Pour into a greased 9x13 pan Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, until batter is cakey Let cool for 15 to 20 minutes/until frosting will set without melting Frosting 1: 2/3 cup of powdered sugar 2 teaspoons of milk Combine, drizzle over top of cooled bars Frosting 2: 1/2 cup of chocolate chips 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil Melt in the microwave for 30 seconds Check for meltedness; give another 30 seconds if not melted enough Drizzle over top of cooled bars Let cool, divide into squares or rectangles for serving
