Going Global Ep21 Korean Residents in Japan: A 21st Century Portrait ? The Story of Newcomers

Ancient Koreans who went to Japan during the Baekje Kingdom formed a fundamental part of Japanese culture. We call them ′doraein′, meaning visitor or arriver in Japanese.But now, there are newcomers, or the so-called ′new settlers′, who migrated to Japan 20 to 30 years ago to seek a new life.They are creating another Korean image in Japan by introducing Korean culture and foods.We take a look at the lives of these newcomers in Japan. 백제 때 일본으로 건너가 일본 문화의 근간을 이룬 한민족의 조상을 우리는 도래인이라고 부른다.하지만 지금 일본에는 2,30년전 새로운 삶을 찾아 일본으로 건너간 뉴커머, 일명 신도래인이라고 불리는 재일동포들이 일본에서 나름의 한국의 이미지를 심어주고 있다.한국의 음식과 한국의 문화를 전하며 일본에서 신도래인으로 살아가는 재일동포들의 삶을 통해, 재일동포 (3세)들의 삶을 재조명해 본다.
