A Busy Day On CSX’s North End Sub With YN2, & CW44AH Leaders, & An Amtrak B32-8WH 4/22/2026

Meeting up with an old friend Francisco we decided to hit up the former Atlantic Coast Line in Rocky Mount. Starting in Rocky Mount we’d see the arrival of Amtrak 80 as well as the departures of CSX’s freights L253, and M408. On a lark we decided to head north to Weldon to get a 2nd shot of M408 since he had a YN2 painted CW44AC. We’d snag him and a double barrel grain train; G759 at the Roanoke River Trestle at Weldon. After getting the two-fer at Weldon we drifted south stopping at Enfield to get P090, as well as a 2nd shot of the grain train. We’d then head off M583 with a CW44AH at Sharpsburg before spending the rest of the evening at Rocky Mount. We’d spend most of the evening at the yard throat near Charlie Baker, there we’d see several freights, and Amtrak’s Carolinian, and Palmetto. The last train we’d see before heading back for home would be the Auto Train with a triple header. This evening a rare B32-8WH would be deadheading from Lorton to Sanford for inspection.
