Side One: 1. Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 – Reached # 7 in UK and #2 in US. "Everybody must get stoned" has made the song controversial, being labelled by some commentators as "a drug song". 2. Pledging My Time – Lyrics center on a boyfriend pledging himself to his girl, "hopin' (she'll) come through, too." 3. Visions of Johanna – Rolling Stone #413 on 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, cut in a single take on Valentine's Day 1966. 4. One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) – Released as 1st single. Is straightforward account of a burned-out relationship. Dissecting what went wrong, the narrator takes a defensive attitude in a one-sided conversation with his former lover. Side Two: 1. I Want You – Last one recorded for album. Single peaked at #20 in US & #16 in UK. 2. Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again – All 20 takes were recorded in one day. Dylan continuously reworked the song in the studio, revising lyrics and changing the song's structure as he recorded different takes. 3. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat – Sarcastic satire on materialism, fashion and faddism. Done in Chicago-blues style. 4. Just Like A Woman – Released as a single in the U.S. peaking at #33. Rolling Stone #232 on 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Side Three 1. Most Likely You Go Your Way And I’ll Go Mine - About a man who is in a relationship that ends in a somewhat drawn out way. His girl says that she loves him, she says that she doesn’t deserve him, yet the relationship continues to this ridiculous point where she is cheating on him and then apologizing for telling him about this cheating. 2. Temporary Like Achilles – In the song, the narrator has been spurned by his lover, who has already taken up with her latest boyfriend. Referring to his rival as "Achilles", the narrator senses the new suitor may end up being discarded as quickly as he was. 3. Absolutely Sweet Marie – Up-tempo blues shuffle in the Memphis style. 4. 4th Time Around – Lyrics that contrast the mundane and the absurd with the unbearably heartfelt, is suggestive of a young romance gone wrong. 5. Obviously 5 Believers – Is a roadhouse blues love song, is driven by Robertson's guitar, Charlie McCoy's harmonica and Buttrey's drumming. Side Four: 1. Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands – 11:22, occupies all of side four, On February 15, the session began at 6 p.m., but Dylan simply sat in the studio working on his lyrics, while the musicians played cards, napped, and chatted. Finally, at 4 a.m., Dylan called the musicians in and outlined the structure of the song. Favorite Tracks: Visions of Johanna, Just Like a Woman, Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands, I Want You, Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again Overall Score: 9.75/10 (Trey and Shawn) #BobDylan #BobDylanReaction #ReactionsToTheClassics #BlondeonBlonde Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
