QUEMADURAS - Parte 3. Cómo calcular la EXTENSIÓN de una QUEMADURA. 9 de Wallace. Lund & Browder. 1%

BURNS. A problem we've all encountered at some point, but do we know everything we need to know about burns? This is the third video in a six-video series on burns, in which I'll cover everything related to this type of wound. I'll explain burn classification, burn depth, causes, and treatment; I'll even discuss controversial topics such as whether we need to debride the phlycten or blistering features of second-degree burns. In this third video, I talk about the different ways to calculate the extent of a burn, that is, to calculate the total body surface area burned. This information will be useful for classifying the burn as mild, moderate, or severe. There are different methods for performing this calculation: Wallace's rule of 9, the Lund and Browder table for children, and the palm of the hand rule or 1% rule for smaller burns. Once the extent has been calculated, I'll discuss in this video which burns can be treated at a health center or at home and which ones require referral to a hospital.
