The Castañeda Family Parade, held every January 4th, marks the official start of the main days of the Black and White Carnival in Pasto. This event is a tribute to the hospitality of the people of Pasto and to the historical memory of the region. Today, January 4th, we are here in the city of Pasto, where pure joy is in the air because the #CastañedaFamilyArrivalParade2026 has just begun. The Carnival Trail is buzzing! Here's what we're experiencing right now: The Family has arrived!: Today we'll see Pericles Carnaval pass by, who has already given the official order for the festivities to begin throughout the department. A tribute to the Visitors: This parade is pure tradition; we remember that year, 1929, when a family of settlers arrived in our city, and today, as every January 4th, we say to everyone: Long live the tourists! Street Characters: Everywhere you look, you'll see iconic characters like Doña Tremebunda and the mischievous Cusillos, who never stop dancing with the crowd. Vintage Scenes: The troupes are incredible, recreating old-fashioned life with their carts full of odds and ends, trunks, and plenty of satire that will have everyone laughing. The parade has just begun its route along the Senda, and remember that starting at 4:00 p.m., the party continues with the Carnival Rumba in Nariño and Carnival Squares.
