Sul filo conduttore costituito dalla manifestazione, si innestano le testimonianze di personalità politiche e culturali che compongono un ritratto umano e politico di Dolores Ibarruri. *** DOLORES AND THE SPAIN Abstract: This documentary was made in the course of a demonstration which took places in Italy in 1976: this demonstration had been organized by the Italian and the Spanish Communist Parties on behalf of Dolores Ibarruri, the Spanish Communist leader who devoted her life to the struggle for freedom, democracy and socialism, on her eighteenth anniversary. Several political and cultural personalities - Luigi Longo, Santiago Carrillo, Enrico Berlinguer, Ferruccio Parri, Pietro Nenni, Giuseppe Saragat,Raphael Alberti - recall their acquaintance and comradeship with her: out of their statements and testimony, Dolores Ibarruri's human and political portrait comes out. They images, filmed during a clandestine meeting of the executive Committee of the Spanish Communism Party, although partially darkened for security reasons, show the position and the political prospects for the Spanish Communism in their country after Franco's death. Franquism,though,his still a force to be reckoned with,even if all indications point to its disappearence in the nar future.
