Repulsing Pickett’s Charge: “Here They Come!” “Here They Come!” “Here Comes the Infantry!”

Pickett’s Charge brings to mind men in gray marching across open fields, exposed, flags flying, while cannon shot tears enormous gaps in the lines. Less remembered are the men in blue who met them on that third day of the Battle of Gettysburg. Here's an account by Edmund Rice, later awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry at Gettysburg.
