"it just keeps going" | Te Araroa (Te Tai Tokerau - Northland)

In the summer of 2023/24, I travelled to Aotearoa/New Zealand and walked the entire length of the country on Te Araroa, The Long Pathway. Although I had completed many multi-day trails in the past, I had never attempted something of this magnitude. Traversing the entire country over the course of 4.5 months and 3000 km, I experienced an adventure that blew away my expectations. My journey began in the winterless north of Aotearoa. Despite half my lineage being from these two islands, I had never travelled around this part of the country. Although lacking the towering peaks further south, I was nonetheless challenged significantly on my first 3 weeks on trail. I learnt a great deal about myself and about what kind of journey Te Araroa would offer me.
