GENOS L300-MYW – Chess Set Pieces
https://www.okuma.com/genos-l3000-e-t... Production of a full chess set is accomplished on the Okuma GENOS L300-MYW CNC lathe, using a bar feeder and featuring an Okuma machine tool app to aid in quick program selection, allowing all 6 pieces of the set (King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook, Pawn) to be cut from the same bar stock with no changeover except the push of a button. Live tooling and milling function allow for contoured cuts and drilling for special features, and the sub-spindle grabs and holds the part during cut-off, then holds the part for engraving on the chess piece bottom. This project is also an excellent demonstration of Partners in Action, as Partners in THINC members provided the following: Kitagawa: chucks WTO: toolholders Kennametal: tooling Edge Technologies: bar feeder The video is super long, so feel free to fast forward to YOUR favorite parts!
