Il Pnrr sta per scadere, a Napoli i progetti di rigenerazione urbana rischiano di restare incompiuti

The PNRR, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, was supposed to transform Italian and European cities. Approved by the European Commission in 2021, the plan's completion deadline has now reached June 30, 2026, after several postponements. After that date, funding will cease; what's done is done. But what is the current status of high-impact projects in our country? The implementing bodies for eco-sustainable and high-social impact projects are the regions, municipalities, metropolitan cities and provinces, universities, but also private entities. We examined the status of these projects in Naples, focusing on those with a high social impact. We selected urban regeneration projects affecting the suburbs, examining the most significant projects, those involving the demolition of dilapidated homes left behind by the 1980 earthquake and the construction of new eco-sustainable homes, which will restore dignity to hundreds of families. The situation, however, bears little resemblance to the success claims made by the implementing bodies, primarily the Municipality of Naples.
