Munsyari Trip -EP:3 | Birthi Falls | KhaliyaTop Trek | Zero Point | Camp Area KahliyaTop | Tent Stay

May 17, 2026: Debut trek: an adventure of a lifetime. We started from Thal and headed toward our next destination, Birthi Falls. The weather was pleasantly sunny, and due to the rain last week, the waterfall had a good amount of water, so we were not disappointed. Fortunately, the falls were not very crowded either. Afterward, we set off for Munsyari. Because we spent some quality time at Birthi and didn’t rush, it was already evening by the time we reached Munsyari. Our hotels were already booked—thanks to Manisha—and after spending the night at the Oak Hill Resort in Munsyari, we headed out for the Khaliya Top trek the next morning. We parked our car at the Khaliya gate and started walking toward the base camp, which is 3 km from the main road. The path was so beautiful and scenic that we didn't even feel tired. After reaching the camping area, we confirmed our booked room, tent, and campfire preferences. Then, we immediately started for Khaliya Top, which was followed by a 800-metre steep climb from the base camp. Past that, it opened up into 1 km of lush green meadow land, known as a bugyal. Here, I want to appreciate my 6-year-old nephew, Ridhaan. He didn’t give up once and continuously trekked at the same pace as the rest of us. At the end of the meadows, we reached Khaliya Top, and the view was breathtaking. We were a little confused about heading back because we had already tired out the kid. However, Mannu selflessly decided to stay behind with him, while Naveen and I planned to reach the pinnacle of the hill, famously known as Zero Point. That is when the hardest part began; our legs were tired, and due to a lack of practice, we were panting heavily. Still, we decided to complete the track. The final stretch of around 100 feet was incredibly difficult, but seeing the sign on top of the hill become visible provided the final motivation we needed to finish the climb. Reaching the summit made us feel a bit emotional and deeply accomplished. We waited there for some time before heading back down to the base camp. We stayed at the base camp for the night and did some stargazing; it was one of the most beautiful skies I have ever seen. My very first tent and sleeping bag experience is something I cannot truly explain in words. The next day, we ate our breakfast and hiked 3 km back down to the main road. Next, we picked up all our luggage from the hotel and started for Pithoragarh via Madkot, Jauljibi, and Askote. We stayed there for two days at the Aranya Resort in Chandak. We got some help from our friend Munni from Bangalore for this stay and had an amazing guest experience. From there, we headed back to Haldwani on the 21st, spending some time at the Banbasa Nepal border. We visited Nepal for 1 to 2 hours, enjoyed momos' and soup in Mahendranagar, bought Nepali topis for Ridhaan and myself, and finally headed home to Haldwani via Sitarganj.
