Episode 103 Namaste, We are Shirish and Pooja and Welcome to a Suranoli ( सूरनोळी ) Special Episode of @RedSoilStories "A Story of Suranoli" It was a humid day in this summer, my Aunt ( Maushi ) has come at our place for holidays. An evening she asked my mom to get some Jackfruit, Mangoes, Cashes etc as she likes all the Kokani Delicacies. Pooja told her that she'll get everything but first she'll be preparing Surnoli on next day for breakfast. Suranoli or Surnali is a traditional breakfast recipe which is now forgotten. It is made with nothing but rice, coconut, poha, fenugreek seeds etc. The ingredients were ground and kept for fermentation overnight. It is like a spongy soft dosa and it can also be sweet when added jaggery. Pooja prepared both versions of Surnoli i.e. sweet surnoli and regular surnoli. Mother prepared sweet coconut milk to be eaten with Sweet surnoli and Aunty made Coconut chutney for regular surnoli. We had both the versions of surnoli for breakfast.
