Normally not being a fan of IPAs but being a Rye lover I decided instead of making my own recipe that it might be time to look into what a good example should be, so I turned to the ‪@MeanBrews‬ YouTube channel and looked at his recipe. It seemed like a good starting point so I brewed it to find where I would land on the style. How'd we do, well join in and find out! Hope you enjoy the video, please take the opportunity to subscribe if you haven't. ~Base Recipe~ Reverse Osmosis Water Water Salts (Amber Dry Profile) 73.1% Pale 2 Row 8% Rye Malt 8% Flaked Rye 5% Crystal 60 4% Carafoam 1.9% Victory Malt Mashed at 152F (66.6C) for 75 mins Mashout at 168F (75.6C) for 10 mins 37.5 IBUs of Mosaic for 60 mins Whirlfloc Tablet 15 mins 18.7 IBUs for Simcoe for 15 mins Yeast Nutrient for 10 mins 7.5 IBUs of Mosaic for 5 mins Chilled Yeast US05 2 packs Dry Hopped with 1oz (28.3g) each of Mosaic and Citra three days before kegging Temperature Controlled Pitched at 58F (14.4C) - Free Rise to 65F (18.3C) for fermentation until done.
