Kawasaki Versys X300 - Second Oil Change
Owners manual calls for 2.3 quarts of oil with filter change. I'm showing almost 3 quarts - (2 quarts, 26 ounces or 2.8 quarts - or half a quart more than manual calls). Add 2.3 quarts. Run idle for a few minutes which fills the oil filter. Then kill bike. Wait and you will notice it never fills back up the sight glass. Add half a quart and that will put it in the middle of the sight glass. My first oil change was at 300 miles. Second at 752. I suggest 10w40 conventional motorcycle oil for the first two oil changes, then a high quality synthetic motorcycle oil for subsequent oil changes. I plan to do my third oil change around 1200 miles and I will use Amsoil. Once I have this oil in, I will follow recommended service intervals in the manual.
