Episode 27 🐎 The Cradle of Great Horse Racing in Mexico | San Miguel El Alto, Jalisco There are places where horses simply run... and there are others where legends are born. San Miguel El Alto, in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, has been recognized for generations as one of the municipalities with the strongest racing tradition in Mexico. Its history with horse racing dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and was officially solidified in 1949, when the City Council promoted the construction of the "El Saucito" municipal racetrack, acknowledging that racing was already part of the town's identity and culture. Today, this tradition continues thanks to dozens of families, breeders, trainers, jockeys, and fans who have made San Miguel El Alto a statewide benchmark. Jalisco is one of the states with the greatest passion for quarter-mile and middle-distance horse racing, and this municipality stands out for the quality of its horses, the passion of its people, and the number of races that have given rise to great stories in equestrian sports. In this documentary, you'll learn about the work, discipline, and enormous effort behind each racehorse, as well as the stories that have made San Miguel El Alto an emblematic place for racing culture. Over the years, numerous horses have become true legends of the track and have also inspired corridos (folk ballads) and popular stories that keep the memory of this sport alive among new generations. Because in Los Altos de Jalisco, a good horse doesn't just win races... it also wins the hearts of an entire town.
