Wenn ein Klinikum umzieht - Das neue UKSH Kiel geht in Betrieb

Relocating a hospital of this size is a logistical feat. In Kiel, 13 clinics are moving into their new premises simultaneously – and all while the hospital remains in operation. Because medical care cannot be brought to a standstill, of course. That's why the UKSH is operating on two fronts during the move weekend: This allows patients to be operated on and treated simultaneously in both the old and new areas, and even babies can be delivered. The move from the existing premises to the brand-new buildings, planned down to the last detail, began first at the Kiel campus, from August 22 to 25, 2019. Lübeck followed in the fall – from November 21 to 24, 2019. For the relocation team, the rule is: after the move is before the move. The vacated areas must be cleared out and prepared for the next renovation phase. And in November, the next major move will take place at the Lübeck campus, into the new building there.
