Chief of Staff of the Army Chairs the 12th Meeting of the Army Chief of Staff Council for 2026 On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, chaired the 12th meeting of the Army Chief of Staff Council for 2026. The meeting was attended by the Security Advisor to the Ministry of Defense, the Deputy Chiefs of Staff, the Inspector General, the commanders of the various branches of the armed forces, the heads of departments, and the directors of the relevant directorates and units. The meeting began with a review of the main agenda items, which included several important topics. Among these was a study presented by a female officer from the Medical Corps regarding the adoption of health barcodes on the uniforms of Iraqi Army personnel, in line with advancements in technology. The Chief of Staff commended this proposal and approved its adoption, recognizing it as an incentive for other officers and personnel to contribute their innovative ideas and developmental suggestions within their respective fields. The remaining topics related to the National Defence University for Military Studies were presented, including the awarding of degrees, the admission and interview process for students of military colleges and institutes, and a draft memorandum of understanding with its British counterpart. The session also included the presentation of other proposals regarding the formation and establishment of several centers within various branches of the military establishment. These proposals were discussed at length by the council members before being voted on and the appropriate recommendations and decisions were made. His Excellency directed all those concerned with the promotion of officers from the rank of lieutenant to lieutenant colonel to work diligently to find suitable positions for their promotion. He also emphasized the need to establish an approved mechanism for wounded officers and enlisted personnel, determining their disability percentages, in order to include them in promotions and transfers, which reflect his concern for this dedicated group.
