35mm Film Photography After Dark (Street Photography Edition)

Shooting film at night isn’t easy… but with the right approach, you can get good results. In this video, I’m out in London after dark, sharing the simple things that have really helped me with film street photography at night. From choosing the right kit and using films like CineStill 800T, Ilford HP5+, Delta 3200 and Vision3 500T AHU, to finding usable light sources, embracing motion, leaning into abstracts and working with slower shutter speeds. These are the foundations that genuinely make a difference when the light fades. Night film photography will test you. You’ll miss focus, you’ll underexpose, and it won’t always go your way… But when it works, it feels earned, and those little unexpected wins make the whole thing worth it. If you enjoy this and want to see a deeper dive into pushing film or trying new techniques, let me know.
