When it comes to Fingers or Pick, there is no wrong answer. Figuring out what you prefer is what is important. I noticed that Fingers give the bass a darker tone while a pick gives it a brighter tone. These exercises for fingers will be using the index (1), middle (2) and ring finger (3). Most bass players use just the index (1) and middle (2) but I want to have the ring finger (3) because it can bring up your speed in plucking the strings. As for picks, using different up and down motions will give you more flexibility in your playing and will help you with your speed. Have fun!
