House of the Dragon is an HBO fantasy drama and a prequel to Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood. It's set roughly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of the Targaryen civil war known in Westeros as the Dance of the Dragons — a brutal succession conflict between two factions of House Targaryen, Rhaenyra's "Team Black" and Aegon II's "Team Green," both wielding dragons.
