The World's WORST Border Crossing

We crossed the Iraq-Turkey border and it was pretty terrible. Gotta be honest we had no idea how to cross over into Turkey so just jumped into a taxi to the border area and hoped for the best. We found ourselves in an empty car park with a lone white man and some dodgy blokes, we did a bit of hard bargaining and managed to bad ourselves a seat over to the Turkish side. The plot thickened as half way through crossing the border we were enlisted to help the lads smuggle a load of tax free goods ahah what a place eh. Once in Turkey we were dropped off in a little town called Silope, we had no money and after a struggle managed to change some dollars into Turkish lira then on we went to our final destination, Mardin. Upon arriving in the ancient Southeastern Turkish city of Mardin we took a couple of free buses into the city center, had our first Turkish doner then walked to our hotel which happened to be in a very old house. This hotel was pretty cool to be honest and from the terrace we had views all the way into Syria. I can't think of a worse border crossing, this one's definitely worth avoiding! Subtitles Available!
