Know the plan BEFORE you send your manuscript to beta readers

Hello, Storyteller. Getting feedback from beta readers is stressful enough, so let’s go into it with a game plan that will guarantee some useful responses. It would be heartbreaking to wait for someone’s feedback only to receive the manuscript back with a handful of vague notes throughout the story. There are some easy ways to prevent this, with the first and most important one being to guide your beta reader into giving the feedback you want/need as often as you think it’s needed. Because each book and round of beta readers will be different, you may need to have more than one round of beta readers take a look at your story. Doing this will allow you a little break in between to both tweak the manuscript and also the way you are prompting the reader.
