You don't need an analogue console or expensive analogue gear to make quality recordings

I recently read an article on Production Expert blog site which talked about a producer's preference for a large format analogue console, particularly for recording, and it got me thinking about how we can perceive the benefits of these things as being essential to our ability to achieve quality recordings, and therefore see them as something of a blocker to being able to success in a home studio setting. I think that thinking is wrong - we need to just get on and do it. Use the gear we have, explore and experiment with it, push it to work out what it does best, and get on with it. You can produce quality recordings in your own home without expensive analogue gear.
