As he approached his home on Crescent Lane, he noticed thick smoke coming from inside the house. His mother’s car was parked in the driveway. For a moment, he thought she had forgotten something on the stove. But when he opened the door, reality hit him in all its cruelty: flames were already devouring the rooms. Panicking, David tried to go inside to look for his mother, but the smoke and heat forced him to turn back. He ran outside for help, and the neighbors immediately called the fire department. The firefighters arrived within minutes and managed to put out the fire. But when they reached the last room, they made a shocking discovery: there was a body, devastated by the flames. It was Joy.
