Hypermobile Neck Stability Exercises: CCI, AAI & Chiari | Phase 2 of 7
Phase 2 is a direct progression from phase 1 and takes us into upright postures. This video explains how and why posture matters to head and neck stability and how to achieve the correct posture. Being upright adds blood flow and postural demands that were not there when we worked lying down, so this is a significant progression. All you need is a light or medium TheraBand. In this video I cover: How a curved upper back forces the head into extension and loads the back of the neck How a flat or arched thoracic spine drops the chin into flexion Why posture determines how much your cervical spine is actually moving Why pulling the chin back stretches the spinal cord and can bring on more symptoms Bringing the whole face back over the body instead of tucking the chin Finding your sit bones and a neutral pelvis Stacking the rings: pelvis, ribcage and collarbones so the head sits over the body Lifting the head into the band in upright sitting Tying the band under the armpits for hands free use at a desk or computer Eating, drinking and swallowing with the band, and whether lifting the brainstem improves these functions Sit to stand and walking with the band Why some symptoms put down to POTS may be brainstem compression This is phase 2 of 7 in the head and neck exercise series.
