The Renfe Class 730 unit used on this service is a high-speed, dual-gauge hybrid unit that consists of 9 Talgo VII tilting coaches, 2 diesel generator cars and 2 power cars. The train travels from Madrid to Albacete on electric power on the standard gauge high-speed line. At Albacete it goes through a gauge changer to move the wheels to allow it to travel on Iberian gauge track for the remainder of the journey. It also changes from electric to diesel power at this point. Maximum speed for this unit on high-speed lines is 250 kph (160 mph) and 180 kph (110 mph) on diesel power.
