A weekend trip to Cap Gris-Nez in October? We were up for that. On Friday afternoon, we set off for Boulogne-sur-Mer in our Frankia. There, we found a municipal motorhome site via Park4Night: “Aire camping-cars Boulogne-sur-Mer”. We put just under £10 in the parking meter and the fun could begin. The motorhome site offered a beautiful view of the white cliffs of Dover in the UK. On Saturday, we took a brisk walk to the town, the fish market and all the other beautiful things Boulogne has to offer. In the afternoon, we took Basiel to Cap Gris-Nez, where we had booked a table for the evening at the restaurant ‘La Sirène’. We spent the night at a local farmer's in Audresselles, with a beautiful view of the dunes and the sea in the distance. It was the week before Storm Ciarán hit, and we really felt it in the camper van at night. On Sunday, we enjoyed another breath of fresh air by the sea before heading home. We will definitely return here, as we have only seen a tiny part of the Côte d'Opale, or Opal Coast. Highly recommended for lovers of rough seas and rugged cliffs. It was short, but powerful!
