4/5 FS Thunderbolt 1003A Fire Siren Dedicational Test, Alternate Wail, Growl, & Hi-Lo, St. Paul, NE

This is my siren tribute to Thomas Diener (‪@FSThunderboltfan1000‬). I hope you're doing well in heaven! Also, ‪@NebraskaSirenProduction‬ helped arrange this test with the fire chief so I want to give him a shoutout for doing so. He had every intention of being here for the test, but he broke down on the way to St. Paul. It happens. Third time recording this beauty. This siren was originally installed in 1966 which makes it 60 years old this year! The fire department also has a new building now and there are no plans to have this siren relocated. St. Paul designated this building for their streets department since the FD moved to a brand new building. For those of you who are wondering if the siren will be restored to its former glory, there have been plans for that for years from what one of the technicians I'm friends with told me, but there is a caveat. It is up to the CUSTOMER to request any repairs or maintenance of the siren. The technicians have no say in when they will do it, they just act when the customer wants them to. The customer in this case is the City of St. Paul. It eventually will happen and the fire chief did inform me that he has spare damper parts, but since the customer has not requested those services, that's why it hasn't been fixed yet. So if you're frustrated because it hasn't been fixed, I get it. Trust me. However, understanding that it's the customer's responsibility to have work carried out is what's most important. Please do not harass the fire department or the service technicians about this. Be patient and wait, as good things come to those who wait. Unfortunately, this siren has been tampered with previously (sometime in either 2022 or 2023) from what the technicians have told me. Whoever tampered with it snuck into the building while the garage doors were open and decided to adjust the chopper level and time delay settings. Hearing about this pissed me off. None of these things should ever be done without being given the proper clearances first. And frankly, I like that this 'bolt is on level 7. It's what the customer wants. The hi-lo test was a manual test done by me and it was performed with the proper clearances to do so. Unauthorized tampering of life safety systems can lead to criminal charges. Setting a siren off outside of an allotted testing time or with no emergency that warrants doing so constitutes creating a false emergency and is a felony (this also applies to any siren you privately own). Neither of these are things that I condone or tolerate. Motors: Chopper: 2HP single phase; blower: 7.5HP 3 phase Chopper: 4/5 port Location: St. Paul Streets Department in St. Paul, NE. County: Howard Tested: Every 1st of the month at 1:00pm (alert), every 15th of the month at 1:00pm (alternate wail). Testing time on 07/15/2026: 1:04pm. Other notes: St. Paul has this 1003, 2 RSH-10As, and 1 2001-SRN and they're all relatively close together so the town is well covered.
