How to trap European green crabs using a modified minnow trap

In this video, student intern Sara Stansbury demonstrates how to use a modified minnow trap to catch European green crabs at various locations in Coos Bay. Within each modified minnow trap, a plastic bait container should be filled with bait (raw tuna works well) to attract the crabs. Set the traps along the water’s edge at low tide and leave in the water for approximately 24 hours. Traps should be retrieved the following day. To sample adult green crabs, this same procedure can be used followed however Fuyuki traps should be used instead. *Please note a shellfish is required to obtain all crabs. https://myodfw.com/crabbing-clamming/...
