Remembering Andy Irons: Surfer's Intuition
In some cases, the difference between a good athlete and a great one isn’t just the hours they put in - it’s some kind of intuition. For Andy Irons, surfing was not only a skill he worked hard for, it was a piece of him that came naturally. Legendary pipe surfer, Michael Tomson, who passed away just a few weeks ago, recounts watching Andy surf as something people wanted to watch because of the creativity and life he brought to a wave. He remembers telling Andy ‘catch any wave,’ knowing that Andy would be able to do something special with it. It was then that Andy began winning heat after heat, and title after title.
