Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Anggito Abimanyu, in his 2026 Economic Update, assured the resilience of the Indonesian financial sector amidst the uncertainties of 2026. LPS, along with the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), continues to promote mitigation efforts and navigate to maintain the stability of the Indonesian financial system. In 2020, LPS handled seven Rural Credit Banks (BPRs) whose business licenses were revoked due to poor integrity and management. However, the banking ecosystem remains stable with strong capital, good banking intermediation, and double-digit growth in deposits and credit. Anggito also announced the policy update on the 25 basis points increase in the Guaranteed Interest Rate (TBP) for Rupiah deposits at commercial banks to 3.75%, with Rupiah deposits at Rural Banks (BPRs) increasing by 25 basis points to 6.25%, and foreign currency deposits at commercial banks remaining at 2.00%. This TBP policy is a response to developments in the financial sector, with market interest rates increasing, albeit at a limited rate, and banking performance remaining strong, with the guarantee coverage rate starting to decline from 93% to 92%. Regarding the premium payment relaxation policy for banks affected by the Sumatra disaster, the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) is providing facilities to those who have submitted their loans. Given current banking developments, LPS is optimistic that the guarantee premium income and Bank Restructuring Program (PRP) premiums will continue to meet targets. LPS recorded that as of April 2026, LPS revenue reached IDR 14.5 trillion, or more than half of the 2026 target.
